Happy Independence Day, India!

Date  : August 15th 2008 12:20 AM
Place : I’m sitting in front of my computer, reading this.

I wonder what I’d have been doing if those great people who didn’t think about their family, or their luxury life but just thought about the one single word “Independence” and fought for it. I bet I’d have been on the side of Netaji who fought with British with his INA, because I admire him a lot more than Gandhiji who fought for Independence with his mighty silence. I do respect Gandhiji and his ahimsa too.

I’m now free to enjoy my life how I wanted it to be. I’m free to speak, decide things on my own – all because of the plenty of sacrifices of the ‘Heros’.

I salute each and everyone who struggled, sacrificed their life for our Mother India to be released from those mighty British hands. I salute to those numerous soldiers who lost their life, and also salute their family members who were with them doing all the pain they undergone.

Jai Hind!

Ilayaraja – true maestro

I was just watching this one in YouTube, and I don’t have any words to praise this legend. He is truly a gift to Tamil/Indian cinema industry, and his music lives till eternity.

In this video, he tries to give different tunes for his famous “Maanguyiley poonguyiley” song, and the best part was the tune which he composes when he was asked to sing how Yuvan (his son) would’ve done this.

Master!

Olympic Gold for India – whatta moment!!

If you want to watch the full event of the Finals where Abhinav Bindra had won the Gold medal for India, click here. What a proud moment for this young man, and he made millions of Indians happy all over the globe.

Kudos to those who is at the back of Nbcolympics.com website making this a real treat for everyone over the world.

PS: You need to install Silverlight to watch the video.

iPhone 3G 8 GB in India would cost Rs. 31,000 ($735) ?????

Not sure of this tough, but came across this article. Is that true? If it is, this is surely a bummer from APPLE to India.

I should say that I’m really happy with my HTC Touch which I got for $430 7-8 months back. If this iPhone releases with this rate, it surely is not a value for money where you cannot set your MP3 as your ringtone, no real use of 3G, MMS, etc which any average Indian needs – at least he needs to set his Bollywood / Tollywood / Kollywood hit song as his ringtone as MP3 file.

Olympics – which search is good?

In this Olympics season, almost all the search engines wanted to drive more users (GOOG at least want to maintain its user base – not losing them out for its rivals), I’d say I’m impressed by Microsoft Live Search – not just I work for Microsoft. Here is how the search landing page looks:

Google (with a famous Holiday logo coming to play)

Yahoo (as simple as it can)

Live Search (WOW)

I was actually watching news about Michael Phelps on TV, and I thought I’ll do a search to find more information on him at this 2008 Summer Olympics; what a moment for him, he set the world record, and entered into the group of elites, and this is what Live Search gave me when I opened the page.

So, if Live Search does this kind of petty things little more aggressive way, I guess it’ll soon become the number 2 in search (beating GOOG in search should be its long term goal though).

What do you say?
